What is Vedic Counseling?

"A Vedic counselor is one who is trained in one or more of the Vedic sciences or Vedic ways of knowledge and their corresponding practices and technologies of higher awareness. A Vedic counselor is one who has both a background in the Vedic knowledge and knows how to share it in a meaningful and professional way with others." ~ Dr. David Frawley & Suhas Kshirsagar

More on Vedic Counseling

The Vedas are a large body of religious texts originating in ancient India. They are the oldest Hindu scriptures, written in early Sanskrit and contain hymns, philosophy, and guidance on ritual for the priests of Vedic religion. Believed to have been directly revealed to seers among the early Aryans in India, and preserved by oral tradition

There are four Vedas:

the Rigveda, the Yajurveda, the Samaveda and the Atharvaveda.

Vedic Sciences include:

Ayurveda (Vedic medicine for well-being of body and mind)

Vedic Astrology (Vedic science of time)

Vastu (Vedic science of space and directional influences)

Vedanta (Vedic philosophy of Self-awareness)

Yoga (Vedic tools of Self-unfoldment and Self-realization)

Veda is a Sanskrit word meaning knowledge. The field of Vedic counseling covers the entire range of our life concerns from health to career and Self-realization. It is based upon the ancient Vedic system of India, with thousands of years of experience behind it. The Vedas and other subsequent texts comprise the 5000-year-old science of Yoga Vedanta.

When we talk about the art and science of Vedic counseling it's all about helping an individual understand their own inner nature and sense of well-being; their own lifestyle choices, routine, habits, and what they need to do in order to feel good about themselves.

To quote my teacher, Dr. David Frawley, "Vedic counseling is life guidance on ways of improving communication, social harmony, respect for nature and inner realization which guide you to higher living and deeper awareness."

I hope this helps to better understand what Vedic counseling entails. I am happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
